Marvel Cinematic Universe Challenge Update #1

Marvel Cinematic Universe Challenge Update #1Seven Weeks ago I told you about the Marvel Cinematic Universe Challenge I was planning to do. Today I will tell you how it went.

First the most important part: I did it! There is only one thing still missing right now which is the season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D which should have aired last night. But other than that I completed the challenge in strictly chronological order with the big finale with Captain America: Civil War which I watched the day it was released. The last few days were a little hectic because I still had to watch season 2 of Daredevil and basically the season 3 of AoS and I wanted to be done by the time I head to the cinema. I finished the last episode an hour before I had to leave 😀 but I did it.

Overall I enjoyed this challenge a lot, I was not expecting that it would be so much fun. I wanted to see some of the stuff on the list for a long time but never knew where to start or didn’t have it on my radar. Other things I didn’t even know existed. Before I started I had seen nothing except 4 episodes of Daredevil season 1 and  one or two episodes of Jessica Jones season 1.

It was so exciting to understand all the cross references and inside jokes and everything which I often missed in other topics because I either had not seen an important part or had already forgotten about it because it was so long ago. It was also fun to find all the Stan Lee Cameos and watch all the after-credits-scenes (Guys, always stay until after the credits, seriously!)

I am planning to do a few reviews in the future for all the stuff I watched during the Challenge. After I finished, I fell into a deep black hole and didn’t know what to watch after everything was planned out for me. I really would like to do something like this again. On the other hand I still have about 15 seasons of Classic Doctor Who to watch… and so many things on Netflix. I don’t think I will run out of things to watch in like….ever.

Now I arrived at the point where all the other Marvel fans already are… The Waiting Game has started! Waiting for new seasons and new movies, a few of them already planned out and excited for (Doctor Strange! AAAH!).

Also, the cinema I went to, to see Civil War has a challenge too now. The “Superhero Challenge”. You basically have to watch 5 out of 6 Superhero Movies this year. They are:

  1. Deadpool (missed that already)
  2. Captain America: Civil War (Check)
  3. Batman vs. Superman (still need to find someone to join me tonight which is (un)surprisingly difficult)
  4. X-Men: Apocalypse
  5. Suicide Squad (EXCITED!)
  6. Doctor Strange (Even more excited! Sherlock! Uhm… I mean Benedict!)

Did you do the Marvel Cinematic Universe Challenge? How long did it take you? Did you like it?
