10 Halloween reads – Scary books for Halloween

Last week I gave you a list of TV-Shows to binge on Halloween. This week you will get suggestions for 10 Halloween reads:

List of Halloween Reads:

  1. Anna dressed in Blood

This is a pretty creepy YA Series about ghosts and also a page turner.

  2. Lockwood & Co Series

I highly recommend this YA series. So far it has 3 books I believe and they are both scary and hillarious. The story plays in contemporary London but with the difference that a few decades ago ghosts started to appear and infest the island. Nobody knows why and only children and teenagers can see or hear them. The logical consequence: Teenage Ghost Hunters! In the series you follow three teenagers on their journey to catching ghosts. It is awesome, I promise!

  3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows

Most of you probably have read all of the Harry Potter books. Those of you who haven’t – what are you wating for? In my oppinion, Halloween is a good point in time to (re)read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. It is the last book in the series, so if you haven’t read any of the others, you should do that immediately.

  4. Undead Series

This one is not really scary. It is a rom-com about a woman that dies on her birthday and suddenly awakes again 3 days later only to find out that she is a vampire. This does not keep the tall blonde from wearing heels and designer clothes. The series made me burst out loughing multiple times in public places – embarrassing! So if you want to read something funny instead of scary, this is your thing.

  5. Rivers of London Series

This is a new-to-me series of, so far, 5 books about a police officer in london who finds out that he can talk to ghosts. Suddenly he is captured between believing in science and experiencing magic.

  6. Frankenstein

I had to include a few classics in this list too. So the first of which is Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. Most of you probably know the story. Short summary: crazy professor – body parts – monster is created.

  7. Drakula

Another classic is Dracula, the Mother (or father?) of vampire stories. This is the one with which everything began.

  8. Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde

The last of the classics / should-have-reads in this list about a part time monster.

  9. Miss Peregrines Home for Peculear Children

The title of this one explains most of it already anyway but in short the story is about kids who can do magical things. This book also includes creepy photographs.

  10. Ring Trilogy

Some of you have probably seen the movie version of this. If you have seen the US version then I can tell you that it has pretty much nothing to do with the story of the books. The books are very different and way better. There is also a a huge plot twist in the third book so it is worth it to read all of them. Short summary: in japan, there is a video tape (yes those things they used before DVDs) which, if you watch it, supposedly kills you 7 days later. This one is probably the creepiest of this list so be warned.

And that’s it with my list of 10 Books to read on Halloween. What are your favourite Halloween reads? Would you add anything to the list? Tell me in the comments!
